To be perfectly honest, I set the bar quite low as I walked up to Shed. Their main focus is on the restaurant side of things (or so I thought). In my experience, regular restaurant coffee is usually fairly pedestrian, and I ordered a latte from Shed, what a risk! But it paid off marvelously.
Walking up to their take-out window and peering in, it seemed quaint, cute, and hip all at the same time on the inside. Service was prompt and professional, all with that laid-back vibe that Tofino is known for. All around a very pleasant experience.
Now for this latte. There was skill and heart poured into the cup as was evident from the latte art on top of the cup. The foam was as close to perfect as you can get and the body held up quite well. The espresso that Shed uses was divine. There was a hint of caramel to it that added a subtle sweetness to the drink that was a nice twist (and this is coming from someone who doesn’t like added sweetener in his latte). The espresso and the milk complimented each other very well with one not overpowering the other. Overall, Shed made the drive back to the other side of the Island very, very tolerable. When in Tofino, make sure you stop by this lovely place. And be sure to check them out in Instagram @shedtofino.
Now, onto the ratings.
