First a little background. Two Bears Coffee offers sustainable coffee by using quality, direct trade coffee. The beans are then roasted in small batches and then ‘flash brewed’. What exactly is flash brewed? Flash brewed coffee is chilled rapidly (hence the ‘flash’). It’s recommended that you replace some of the water you use to brew the coffee with ice (put directly in the brewing container). Why the flash brewed method? Well, direct from their website: it ensures that their coffee is less acidic and preserves the flavour notes in the beans themselves. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
I had the pleasure of trying their unsweetened, flash brewed black coffee and overall, I was quite impressed. Granted, my expectations for canned coffee were understandably quite low, however, this didn’t just meet that lowered bar, but far surpassed it! The coffee had an incredibly rich flavour profile to it at the beginning, with heavy chocolate notes to it. Albeit, that rich flavour did mellow out the more I drank it, however it still made for a pleasant experience. Overall, it was a very smooth, easy drinking coffee!
