It was back in October that I first highlighted Smoking Gun Coffee Roasters on my blog. If you haven’t seen that post yet (or just want a refresher) you can find it here. While that was an at home review, this post is a little different. I had the pleasure of visiting Brandon from Smoking Gun at the soft open of his drive-in cafe. Of course in this day and age, things are a little weird, so rather than go inside for a drink, you order ahead of time, call when you get there, and they bring it right out to your car. It was super convenient and was a nice change of pace from just brewing coffee at home. Also, talk about a coincidence, but today (April 21st) marks the official opening of the drive-in. If you’re anywhere near the Fraser Valley or Lower Mainland, I highly recommend checking it out!

I feel like it’s been forever since I last was able to review a cafe beverage, so I took the opportunity to review the latte I ordered. Overall, it was a great combination of being rich, smooth, and creamy all at once. The espresso complimented the milk nicely, and I really feel like the milk highlighted the espresso’s tasting notes. For me there was a strong chocolate flavour that paired well with the nuttiness that accompanied it. It created a sweeter profile, but not overpoweringly so. It was definitely one of the best lattes that I’ve had in a while. It’s also safe to say that it was 100% the best latte I’ve had delivered to my car. Be sure to check the drive-in out. They’re open Mon-Fri from 6:30-2pm and Sat from 9-3pm.
Atmosphere: 4/5 (only for the fact that my car was a little dusty)
Service: 5/5
Coffee: 4.5/5
Overall: 4.5/5
