You may be asking yourself, “Matt, why are you reviewing an ice cream shop on your coffee blog?”. Now that’s a fair question, but it just so happens that they also serve coffee, so it’ll all make sense, I promise. Opening late last month, Common Good is located in Historic Downtown Abbotsford and has been serving up some fantastic ice cream. Additionally, they’ve also been dishing out some delicious coffee.

Now, in the effort of being completely transparent, my wonderfully talented girlfriend, Jess, made the drink that I’m reviewing today, but the final ratings I provide below are entirely well deserved and not biased in any way. The beverage I’m reviewing today is a cortado. First off, shout out to Smoking Gun Coffee for supplying Common Good with their espresso- it’s a solid roast! The aroma on the cortado was very rich and complex with both sweet and nutty notes. As you drink it, the sweetness turns to chocolate which pairs very well with the previously noted nuttiness. Overall, it’s a very well rounded beverage, with the espresso pairing well with the creaminess of the milk. I have to say, I did not expect to be receiving such a high quality coffee from a specialty ice cream shop. I guess the takeaway from all this is come to Common Good for the ice cream, and stay for the coffee. Thanks for being awesome, Common Good!
Be sure to check out Common Good on Instagram, and while you’re there, might as well check out their coffee supplier, Smoking Gun as well.
