I feel incredibly lucky to have found such a cool coffee company in Fawkes Coffee. First, they’re Canadian. Second, their bag design is very unique and enticing. And third, they roast some incredible coffee! After connecting with them on Instagram, they sent over two bags of their coffee. This post focuses on their Kenya Ndumberi roast. Enjoy this, and then watch for the second roast review in a couple weeks!
I was very excited for this particular coffee because I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve had a Kenyan roast. It’s safe to say that this one did not disappoint. The floral notes hit you first, which really brightens this coffee and adds an interesting dimension. Next, this coffee hits you with some really rich notes of chocolate that add boldness and body to the roast. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the floral and chocolate notes really compliment each other nicely. As the coffee cools, hints of a certain nuttiness mingle with the chocolate notes to round out this smooth, tasty, and balanced roast that you could easily drink several cups of in one sitting. Finally, on the after-notes, the floral notes make a final appearance, really book-ending this coffee quite nicely. Kudos to Fawkes for this fantastic roast.
Be sure to check out their website and follow them on Instagram!
