If Infusion Cask sounds familiar, you’d be right. Earlier this year I tried their whisky infused coffee (which you can find my review here). I was very impressed with the uniqueness of the beans, so I jumped at the chance to be able to try their rum infused beans (and red wine infused ones, stay tuned for that). My expectations for this roast were incredibly high and, long story short, this rum infused coffee not only met them, but surpassed them.

As always, let’s start with the aroma. This roast smelled quite sweet upfront, with some light, buttery afternotes that I liken to a buttery popcorn. It was definitely an interesting start. In terms of taste, it was very smooth. It was quite citrus-forward upfront, with notes of orange and pineapple in particular. As this mellows out, it gives way to a silky smooth vanilla or caramel on the back end which I really appreciated. It was a little on the “dry” side in the afternotes, which was really neither here nor there. Overall, like I said, I really enjoyed the whisky infused coffee, but I think this rum infused one was even better! Thanks for this Infusion Cask, keep up the great work. Stay tuned for a review of their red wine infused beans in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, check out Infusion Cask on their website and on Instagram!
